Louise Walker was born December 17, 1931 in Sardis, Alabama to Perry Hinton and Elizabeth Minter Hinton. She met Willie Walker, Jr. from Minter, Alabama, married at the tender age of 18 and they made their home in Selma. Louise was preceded in death by her parents, Perry Hinton and Elizabeth Minter; sisters, Ada McCullough, Ruby Doss and Addie Mae Sturdivant, and her husband Willie Walker, Jr. She passed May 10, 2020 while a resident at Park Place Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Louise, affectionately called “Bang” by her friends, was a homemaker most of her life but contributed financially through doing hair, sewing and making quilts. She was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening. She valued family and was primary caretaker of her mother during her final years. She was a member of the Morning Star Baptist Church and enjoyed singing in the choir. She learned to play piano by ear and never let an out of tune piano dampen her zeal. Even in the throes of dementia, until the past year, she still could sing some of her favorite hymns.
Louise is survived by her three loving sons Willie “Bo” (Pat) Walker of Chattanooga, TN, Clarence “Toot” (Jacque) Walker of Anderson, IN and Sherman “Pete” (Etta) Walker of Selma, AL; precious grandchildren Quincy, Brian, Kelisa, Clarence “Toot” II, Sterling and Tomeka, ten great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Louise will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
